Contented Critters "no kill" animal sanctuary is located in Makinen, Minnesota.
We are a volunteer run organization that is dedicated to the rescue, care, and relocation of animals in need. The majority of the animals coming through our doors are dogs and cats. However, no injured creature that is not in another shelter's contract area, is ever turned away.
Many of these animals are found abandoned. Some have been rescued from bad situations and some were simply dropped off by owners who can no longer care for them.
Regardless of breed, age or situation, we provide these animals with appropriate veterinary care and keep them happy and health, until suitable loving homes can be found for them.
No cat or dog leaves Contented Critters without being spayed or neutered!

This is Ernestine. She was rescued along with a Donkey, goats, peacocks, and Chihuahuas and a MinPin. Ernestines' hooves are some of the worse I have witnessed. The little Mini Donkey protects her with a lot of heart. They are a very bonded pair. We have started the process of trimming her hooves. This will take a while and not sure they will ever be "right" again, but it was obviously a relief with what has been done already. Feel free to make a donation to help with the cost of repairing these poor girls.
Roran Black is a Plott Hound mix that was given sadly up by his owners who could no longer care for his chronic eye infection, nor pay for the surgery to have his eye removed. They decided it best to give him to us. Roran is having his eye removed and then he will be up for adoption when healed. He is a lover of a dog, housebroken, loves kids and swimming. This surgery for his eye removal is expensive, and we would greatly appreciate any donations to go towards Rorans surgery. He is a good dog and worth giving a second chance!
